Marlys married James Dehning on December 17, 1960 in Iron Hub. She was a retired Physical Therapy Assistant serving Cedarbrook Manor, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Woodland Good Samaritan. David Gordon Lusian, age 45 passed away on September 1, 2022 at the Hospice House in Duluth.

David was born on June 22, 1977 in Minneapolis to Gordon and Martha Lusian. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1995. He moved to Duluth in 1999 and later found a career in IT. He worked for many years at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth as a part of their IT support. Thomas James Ringhand Jr., age 57 of Ironton died on December 8, 2022 in Seattle Washington from cardiac complications while attending his son Tucker’s National Cross Country Division II Championships. Lester “Les” Goodman, age 100, of Emily, MN entered into eternal life on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Fergus Falls Veteran Home. Lester is survived by his children, Kathy Todd of Pine River, MN, Michael Goodman of LaGrange, GA, Pat Goodman of Duluth, MN, Pam Goodman of Chaska, MN; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
As Sergeant in the 8th Army Air Force, Bob was stationed in England. He was decorated with the Air Medal for courage and achievement in action while paving the way for Allied armies into the Reich with bombs. The group was cited by the president and shared in another presidential award for aiding in the 3rd air division’s epic attack on key Messerschmitt plants at Regensburg, Germany.
Nettie is still a familiar face at the funeral home; you will often spot her helping with visitation refreshments. Fred and Ron Cook II purchased Archer Hampel Funeral Home from Larry Kubiak in 2012, and they changed the name to Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services. In 1982, Fred purchased Sullivan-Borr Funeral Chapel in Grand Rapids and eventually merged that chapel with Cook in 1992. After college, Lee came on board to help with the finances and oversee the pre-need department. Eventually, Ron Sr. found himself needing help, especially during deer-hunting season, so he built the Byron Center Chapel in 1966 and hired Bruce and Norma Stegenga to live with the family for five years. Ron Sr. knew in the eighth grade he wanted to be a mortician.
When he was a junior at Wyoming Park High School, his dad died at the age of 47 from a heart attack. Ron was working for his dad that day at Kent Block and helped move the bricks for the Grandville Chapel of what is now Cook Funeral Home & Cremation Services. “That day I helped haul the bricks of my future business,” Ron Sr. recalled. June Ione Roiger, age 84 of Garrison died at her home on November 23, 2022.
